Prosthodontics is the discipline within Dentistry associated with the replacement of teeth by artificial means. It covers Removable Prosthodontics (Complete and Partial Dentures, Immediate Dentures (Replacement of teeth immediately after extraction of natural teeth), Implant supported fixed teeth , removable dentures, and restoration of teeth by means of Crown and Bridgework procedures.
Wearing complete dentures can be very difficult in terms of comfort and stability. Dental Implants are often used to assist in stabilising the dentures. However for various reasons dental implants are not suitable for many people. It is for these people that conventional complete dentures are the only means of providing artificial teeth to satisfy the needs of cosmetics and function. Not having teeth can be an embarrassment in a social setting as they are needed to support the lower facial structure.
In effect Prosthodontic management for the edentulous state requires dedication, skill and time along with patient cooperation and patience. In order to achieve state of the art treatment outcomes, this practice uses the best of materials and techniques available today and has the best technical assistance available on the premises. First class quality control is our goal.
In order to assess the individual needs of patients, a consultation is needed for complete examination, discussion of needs, and the formulation of a diagnosis and treatment planning. This is usually a one hour appointment. Referral for specialist x rays is often necessary before completion of a treatment regimen.
If Patients are referred to the practice, it is necessary that a referral letter and appropriate recent x rays are brought to this appointment. An up to date Medical History is also necessary. Once the treatment plan is established a complete scheduling for visits is established and bookings made. If implants are required referral to a surgeon or Periodontist is indicated for the placement of implants. In the event that immediate dentures are required, extraction of teeth can be carried out in house under local anesthetic. If hospitalisation is required the services of a surgeon are indicated.
It is the policy of the practice that the consultation fee is payable at that visit. Fees can depend largely on the complexity of the treatment and a complete quotation of fees will be provided along with a payment schedule which is available on an individual basis. Payments can be made using EFTPOS, VISA, MASTERCARD, CASH or CHEQUE. We accept DVA Patients.
Appointments can be scheduled from Monday to Friday (Except Thursday) between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
